Farid Gayibov was born on 24 April 1979 in Baku.
He completed his secondary education at Baku Secondary School No. 1 in 1995. In the same year, he was admitted to the Faculty of Business Organisation and Management of the Institute of Management of the National Economy under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in Business Management in 1999, followed by a master’s degree in 2001.
In 2014, he was awarded the academic degree of Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences by the P. F. Lesgaft National State University of Physical Education, Sport and Health in Saint Petersburg, Russian Federation.
Since 2021, he has held the position of Minister of Youth and Sport of the Republic of Azerbaijan. He has served as President of European Gymnastics since 2017 and as a member of the Executive Committee of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) since the same year. He also serves as Deputy Chair of the Organising Committee for the 3rd CIS Games, scheduled to take place in Azerbaijan in 2025. Moreover, since 2025, he has presided over the 10th Session of the Conference of Parties (COP10) to the UNESCO International Convention against Doping in Sport.
By Presidential Decree dated 16 February 2024 on the renewed composition of the Cabinet of Ministers, he was reappointed as Minister of Youth and Sport of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
He is married and is the father of two sons and a daughter.
